In honour of 2008's olympic games the people's republic of China invested an awful lot of money in building some remarkable archtecture.

Both the bird's nest and the olympic swimming stadium were especially designed for the olympic tournament.

The special feature of the swimming stadium is its enlighted atmosphere; the entire building glows light blue through its bubbled surface. Its blue radiation is remarkable easy to see over the entire olympic lane in norhern Beijing even though (or maybe thanks to) the amounts of smog in the air.
